As the seasons change, are you confident that your heating system will get you through the winter safely?
We can help you with your heating system in multiple ways:
Heat Pumps:
- Heating Performace Inspections - We will perform an onsite inspection of your home's heating equipment - this includes filter replacement, visual inspection of your ductwork, checking the freon levels in your system, inspecting electrical wires, testing the amperage on all motors and the compressor along with testing the thermostat controls. After each heating performance check, we will give you a list of concerns that can save you money.
- System Replacement - Today's heat pump systems begin at 14 seers (efficiency rating) and achieve as high as 20 seers. Can you imagine the savings going from a 10 seer unit to a 20? That would be enough to take your love to a nice dinner each month instead of sending it off as payment for your electric bill.
Gas Furnace Systems:
- Heating Performance Inspections - Regular onsite inspections of your gas furnace by a professional are essential to your safety. Our inspection includes checking all safety controls, the flue pipe, electrical wires, testing the amperage on all motors and the compressor along with thermostat controls, filter replacement, visual inspection of the heat exchanger, and ductwork to make sure your gas furnace heating system is operating a peak efficiency. If it isn't, we will make the recommendations needed to do so.
Today's gas heating systems are highly efficient, ranging from 80% AFUE rating to 96%. That means that for every $1 you invest in heating, you could be getting .96 cents back!! Our goal is to earn your trust and business when it comes to your home's heating needs.
Did you know that an inefficient system can cost you more to operate in the winter months than in the cooling months?
Most systems used in the south are heat pumps. Heat pumps serve a dual purpose - they use freon in the summer months to cool, but they also use freon in the winter months to heat. This is much different than a gas furnace, which uses natural gas or propane to heat during the winter.
So how does an inefficient heat pump cost me more to operate in the winter months? Glad you asked! Heat pumps are generally designed to operate in winter conditions of 42 degrees. When your system is operating at peak performance, this is no issue for the unit, but what if it's not? Well, the system has to compensate somehow - and the somehow is what we call heat strips. Let's say you have your thermostat set to 72 degrees, but it can only reach 69 degrees. The thermostat will then tell the unit to cut on the emergency heat, also known as the "heat strip," to help it reach 72 degrees. When this happens, your electric provider loves you because that little round meter on your home goes crazy and uses lots and lots of energy.
